Who we are

Working Families for Victoria is a group of Victorian parents, workers and everyday people who think people deserve the full picture before we vote.

We're not aligned with any political party or union, and we don't take instructions or donations from any either. We're a team of Victorians standing up for the things every working family needs: affordable childcare, decent healthcare, and wages you can actually live on.

Know before you vote

We started this because we kept hearing the same thing from people around us: politicians all sound the same at election time, and it's hard to know who's actually telling the truth about what they'll do once they're in parliament.

So we decided to check. Not what anyone says in an ad or a press conference, but what they've actually done – the votes they've cast, the bills they've backed, the things they've said on the record. We think that's the fairest test of any party asking for your vote, and it's one every Victorian can apply for themselves.

How we source our research

Everything on this site comes from the public record: parliamentary voting divisions, Hansard, and official government sources. Every claim is dated, sourced, and linked. Where a party or politician's record is mixed – votes going both ways on the same issue – we say so, rather than only showing the side that suits an argument.

We're not asking anyone to take our word for it. Most of what's here is checkable in a couple of minutes at theyvoteforyou.org.au or on the Australian Parliament's own website. If you find something on this site you think is wrong, we want to know – get in touch and we'll check it.

The stakes

Every family in Victoria wants the same thing: work hard, look after each other, and know the next generation will have it a little easier than the last.

That promise is slipping. Childcare costs more than it used to. Seeing a doctor or filling a script eats into the weekly budget. Wages haven't kept pace with the cost of living. This election, Victorians deserve politicians who will actually stand up for working families, rather than just saying they will.

What we stand for

We're campaigning for a Victoria that backs the people who keep it running:

• Affordable childcare, so no parent has to choose between a job and their kids.
• Well-funded public schools, so every kid gets a fair start.
• A properly funded health system, so seeing a doctor doesn't wreck the budget.
• Strong wages, so a full week's work is enough to live on.
• Real paid parental leave, so a new baby doesn't mean a financial setback.
• Support for people doing it tough, when work isn't enough or isn't there.
• A fair go for apprentices and tradies training for a decent, secure job.

Check the record

Every party asking for your vote this election has a record. Not a slogan, not a press release – an actual, checkable history of what they've voted for and against in parliament.

We'd ask this same question of any party on your ballot: do they actually do what they say? For this campaign, we've put that question to One Nation specifically. It's the first time they've been within real reach of winning seats like these, and a party that close to holding power deserves exactly the same scrutiny the major parties already get, not less.
